Another New Year!
Well, it's been awhile. So, I'll bring you up to date. We're now in Missouri, and we are moved in to our new Shome....yes, I said shome. It's our temporary home, inside of our new shop building. Some people call it a Sh"house", but I call it a shome. We chose this route because purchasing a RV and living in that while we built our house seemed to be just an expense. We also considered renting in town, but in the end we felt building on our property from the get go was the best for us and financially made the most sense.
The building was not an easy process, but we were fortunate to have good friends to help us out along the way. The building is 40x50 with 14x40 living quarters. (560 sq ft of living space)
Here are some pictures of this journey.
This is what it looked like in the beginning.
After we cleared the area, they poured the concrete and started building.
And here's where I started to get excited....
Next, they started working on the living quarters.
Then windows and wrap went up.
Electrical outlets...
And the metal started going up...
Then the roof...
Insulation and plumbing...
Shop Interior...
Living Quarters Interior
Septic Tank went in...
Sheetrock up...
Electric line trenched to the electric pole...
Next the textured the walls, and we painted...this picture shows the bedroom and double closet.
Then came the floor. I knew all along that I was leaving the concrete, but wasn't sure what to do with it, so we painted it....Look closely, it is PAINTED CONCRETE. We did it in one afternoon and sealed it with concrete sealer.
Our finished living quarters...
We do have indoor plumbing!
And here's the shop area...we added stairs to access the storage above the living quarters and still have to add the railing.
Overall, we are pleased how it turned out, even though it did take us longer than expected. New Year, New Start for us, it's small, but it is cozy! Next up, the house!
I'd love to hear your thoughts, comments and suggestions...what would you've done different?
Thanks for stopping by!
